President's message

Mark Yakabuski, CAIRP President and Chief Operating Officer
A new day, so to speak, has dawned for the trustee profession. The new designation announced by the OSB, Licensed Insolvency Trustee, is one for which we have waited a long time and offers us an opportunity to differentiate the breadth and trustworthiness of our services from those of unlicensed providers.

In the near future, CAIRP will be talking to our members about an ambitious public education campaign to make Canadians aware that an LIT should be their first choice for help if they are in financial difficulty. In the meantime, we strongly encourage you to embrace Licensed Insolvency Trustee – sign the consent form required by the OSB and start using it right away!

Mandatory Professional Development
All CAIRP members are required to complete a minimum of 20 Mandatory Professional Development (MPD) hours during each membership period (April 1 – March 31).
If you are unable to complete your MPD hours, you can apply for an MPD waiver. Waiver requests may be approved on a case-by-case basis by the Executive Committee for situations such as illness, maternity/paternity leave or other extraordinary circumstances.
To submit an MPD waiver request, contact CAIRP’s Membership and Committee Relations Manager, Baalqis Hassan, at 416-204-3439 or
